The International Conference for museum professionals OPEN MUSEUM will be held from 4th to 6th of December 2017, in the Gallery of Matica srpska. The Conference was organized by the Gallery of Matica srpska and supproted by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, the British Council, the Austrian Cultural Forum in Belgrade and the Foundation “Novi Sad 2021”.
In accordance with the current and future projects of the Gallery of Matica srpska, the Conference OPEN MUSEUM will bring together experts in the field of museum activities with people with disabilities and experts in the field of modern technologies that cooperate with museums in Serbia and abroad, who will present their programs and experiences in their work.The first day of the conference is dedicated to the opening of museums to people with disabilities with a focus on blind and visually impaired persons, people with dementia and learning difficulties, through the presentation of the experiences of the experts of Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, Tiflological Museum in Zagreb, Per.Art organization from Novi Sad and the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska from Banja Luka, whose exhibition Space, Shape, Touch ‒ a specialized exhibition for blind and visually impaired people, will be presented in the Gallery of Matica srpska in that period. The issue of the second part of the conference is the application of new technologies in museums through lectures of experts from the UK and the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, and through the presentation of the new application of the Gallery of Matica srpska Guide through the Gallery with the features of the augmented reality, realized by UNESCO funds.
