The Gallery of Matica srpska, founded in 1847 under the auspices of Matica srpska, today represents one of the richest art museums in Serbia. The permanent collection exhibits significant artworks from the 18^th, 19^th and the 20^th century and illustrates the origin and the development of Serbian Art of New Age, indicating the position of national culture in European context. Apart from the permanent exhibition, the Gallery is a place where different temporary displays take place – international, monographic, thematic, etc.

The visitors can enjoy the variety of programmes, such as expert interpretations of exhibitions, lectures, promotions of art publications, art movie projections, conversation with artists and creative workshops for children and young people.
